On July 25, 2009, in Charlottesville, VA, the women of Charlottesville Lady Arm Wrestlers (CLAW) staged a one-night-only charitable throwdown, the Thrilla in C'villa.

The event took place behind the Blue Moon Diner and featured arm wrestling by creatively costumed Charlottesville women, live music by Straight Punch to the Crotch, more than 700 screaming fans, several locally famous celebrities, and plenty of merch to buy for the cause.

The Thrilla raised more than $5000 for Light House Studio, a youth media arts center in downtown Charlottesville.

A fun look at the Ross Procedure performed on me by Dr. Paul Stelzer, December 11, 2006, at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City. This uncommon method of aortic valve replacement surgery negates the need for anti-coagulant therapy necessitated by the implantation of a traditional mechanical prosthesis to replace the damaged aortic valve. It also is designed to last longer than an implanted porcine or bovine valve.

The signature characteristic of the Ross Procedure is that once the patient's damaged native aortic valve is removed, the patient's own pulmonary valve is moved over into the aortic position, and a donor pulmonary valve is implanted in the now vacant pulmonic position. Thus, upon the successful completion of the surgery, "Two Hearts Beat as One."

I was born with a bicuspid aortic valve which lasted for 43 1/2 years. By the time it was replaced, it was badly calcified and caused severe regurgitation of oxygenated blood from my aorta back into the left ventricle of my heart. This caused me to experience shortness of breath, a characteristic symptom of aortic valve disease.

Benedek Csík, a world-renowned Hungarian cymbalom artist, has played the world's biggest concert venues, including Carnegie Hall. Benedek believes that in addition to working as a musician he is called to serve other Roma by leading a small Christian congregation in Budapest. He teaches that before Roma can expect to be accepted by the broader society, they must first accept themselves as Roma, created in God's image.
